The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has dismissed reports claiming that it is seeking permission from the Federal Government to bear arms. The Corps Public Education Officer, Bisi Kazeem, urged the general public to disregard such reports.
This clarification comes after Deputy Corps Marshal Shehu Zaki made a statement on Saturday, suggesting that, given the prevailing security challenges in the country, FRSC personnel should bear arms when carrying out their responsibilities.
In response, Kazeem stated that the statement made by Shehu Zaki did not reflect the current position of the Corps Marshal and the FRSC’s management team.
Therefore, the FRSC wants to clarify that it is not currently seeking permission for its personnel to bear arms, and the public should take note of this clarification.
