During an exclusive interview with TVC, Femi Adebayo addressed the question of whether a sequel to Netflix’s Yoruba Jagun Jagun is in the works. He pointed to a pivotal scene in the series, where Ibrahim Chatta repeatedly calls the name Ogundiji, suggesting that this scene hints at the possibility of a sequel. In Yoruba tradition, it’s customary to respond after the third call of your name.
Adebayo also used the opportunity to urge Nigerian youth to become more aware and active in society, emphasizing that Jagun Jagun was inspired by the involvement of young people in various societal issues. He encouraged the youth to resist being used as instruments of destruction by those in power.
Another motivation for creating Jagun Jagun, as Adebayo explained, was to showcase the beauty of Yoruba culture to the world. He wanted to portray the richness of Yoruba traditions and values through the series.
Additionally, Adebayo shared insights into the making of Jagun Jagun, including details about a forthcoming documentary that will delve into the extensive production process. He discussed Lateef Adedimeji’s exceptional performance, the use of body doubles, and the creation of the soundtrack for the series.
