Dr. Tunji Alausa, Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, has stated that the Federal Government is eager to assist the Lagos State Government in providing more cheap and accessible healthcare services to its inhabitants.
Dr. Alausa made the vow during a courtesy visit to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu at the Lagos House.
According to Patricia Deworitshe, Director of Media and Public Relations at the Federal Ministry of Health, the Minister stated, “What we have is not working the way it should.”
Our indications are extremely poor but we have a mandate from President Bola Tinubu to reform, reinvigorate, and get the healthcare system to where it should be, where citizens can have complete healthcare.
“Lagos State has done reasonably well, and that’s one of the reasons I’m here to see how we can help you do better because if we can get it right in Lagos, we can begin to replicate it across the country.” I asked the Lagos government to do more to help its residents enroll in the state health insurance policies.”
Governor Sanwo-Olu informed the Minister of Lagos State’s desire and readiness to engage with the Federal Government in areas of competence to supplement what the state is doing.
