The Federal Government has declared that it does not require the endorsement of the Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, to implement President Bola Tinubu’s transformative policies. This response came after Sanusi criticized the administration, claiming it lacks credible individuals to explain the rationale behind its policies, which he said have caused hardship.
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, countered Sanusi’s remarks, describing them as disappointing given his economic expertise. Idris emphasized that the reforms are essential steps to tackle Nigeria’s economic challenges, citing improvements such as increased foreign reserves, reduced debt ratios, and significant gains from subsidy removal. He urged Sanusi to rise above personal grievances and contribute constructively to the nation’s progress.
The government stressed that these reforms, though temporarily painful, are critical for Nigeria’s long-term stability and growth. Idris called for unity among leaders and citizens, urging all stakeholders to focus on collaboration rather than divisive rhetoric. The Tinubu administration, he affirmed, remains dedicated to fostering economic recovery and prosperity for all Nigerians.
