The Ogun State Police Command has arrested Oladokun Ayomide, a final-year student of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, for allegedly poisoning his girlfriend, Ugbokwe Mmasichukwu, and another female friend, Odumosu Semilore. The incident occurred at Ayomide’s residence in the Surulere community, Camp area of Abeokuta.
According to the police, Ayomide is suspected of administering a poisonous substance, believed to be an admixture of brownie cakes, alcohol, and an unknown harmful substance, to the victims after inviting them to his residence. The victims lost consciousness immediately after consuming the harmful cake and were rushed to the hospital for treatment.
While the reason behind Ayomide’s actions remains unknown, preliminary investigations suggest that he may have had an intention to harm the victims. The Chief Security Officer of the Federal College of Education, Osiele Abeokuta, Olusola Ajibola, led the arrest, revealing that Mmasichukwu and Semilore were students of the institution, while Ayomide was a final-year student of FUNAAB.
The victims are currently responding to treatment, and further investigations are underway to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident. The police found a foil paper pack used for the brownie cake at the crime scene.
