Several properties were destroyed in a fire outbreak at a soap factory and plastic waste dump site on Amanato Street, Ugwagba Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State. The fire started around 1 am on Saturday, before state firefighters arrived on the scene.
Eyewitnesses reported that the fire began in one corner of the building, prompting an immediate call to the firefighters. Despite some property damage, the Anambra State Fire Service successfully contained the blaze, preventing it from spreading to nearby structures.
State Fire Service Chief Chukwudi Chiketa confirmed that firefighters were dispatched at 1:40 am and managed to control the fire by 3:40 am. He stated, “The cause of the fire is still unknown. Also, no life was lost. Fire kills but it can be prevented.”
This incident follows another fire on Friday, which broke out on the top floor of a one-story building at GMO Company on Atani Road, near Uga Junction, Okpoko.
