The Radio Nigeria facility on Ikoyi Road, Lagos, was engulfed in flames late Wednesday, prompting swift intervention from emergency services. While the cause of the fire remains unknown, it primarily affected the studio section of the one-story U-shaped building.
Margaret Adeseye, Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, confirmed that firefighters from Dolphin, Ebute Elefun, and Oba Onitolo stations responded promptly to contain the blaze. Collaborative efforts with the Federal Fire Service and the Nigerian Police helped prevent the fire from spreading, and no casualties were reported.
Efforts to fully extinguish the fire and assess the damage are ongoing. This incident comes just a month after three radio stations in Aba, Abia State, were similarly destroyed by fire, resulting in significant losses of broadcasting equipment.
