Fire Razes Seven Shops in Ibadan, Millions Lost

A devastating fire engulfed seven shops in the Alaro community of Sango, Ibadan, on Saturday, January 18, destroying properties worth millions of Naira. According to reports, no casualties were recorded in the incident, but the cause of the fire remains unknown at the time of filing this report. The incident has left business owners counting their losses as investigations are underway to determine the source of the inferno.

Confirming the incident, Yemi Akinyinka, General Manager of the Oyo State Fire Service, stated that firefighters promptly arrived at the scene to contain the blaze. “Our men immediately moved to the scene when contacted. On arrival, we met seven shops well alight, and we quickly swung into action, restricting the fire from spreading to other shops and nearby buildings. Thankfully, no lives were lost,” he explained.

While the fire has been extinguished, the aftermath has left significant financial damage, with goods and property worth millions reduced to ashes. Authorities are continuing investigations to uncover the root cause of the inferno. This tragic event serves as a stark reminder of the importance of fire safety measures in commercial areas.
