Footballer Collapses and Dies During Osogbo Match

In Osogbo, the Osun State capital, a football match turned tragic as Adeyemi Adewale, a 29-year-old player from the Ilesa West Local Government Area team, collapsed during the Adeleke Memorial Cup Final. Despite being rushed to the Osun State University Teaching Hospital, doctors sadly confirmed his death.

The Osun Police Command spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the incident, stating investigations are ongoing. She noted that the remains of the deceased have been transferred to the hospital morgue. The tragic event has cast a shadow over the local sports community.

Meanwhile, Governor Ademola Adeleke has imposed a curfew in Ifon and Ilobu communities following renewed communal tensions. The curfew, effective immediately, runs from 7 pm to 7 am to prevent further escalation. This dual tragedy underscores the pressing need for unity and vigilance in the state.
