Lamorde, a retired police officer, reportedly fought a sickness privately before passing away.
While undergoing medical treatment in Egypt, the retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police passed away at the age of 61.
His corpse would be buried in accordance with Islamic tradition, a former EFCC officer informed reporters on Sunday morning.
From 2011 to 2015, Lamorde presided as the EFCC’s third Executive Chairman. When former President Goodluck Jonathan ousted his predecessor, Farida Waziri, he was originally appointed in an acting capacity in November 2011.
On February 15, 2012, the Senate approved Lamorde as the commission’s substantive chairperson.
Born in Mubi, Adamawa State, on December 20, 1962, Mr. Lamorde attended Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in sociology in 1984. In 1986, he enlisted in the Nigerian Police Force.
When the anti-graft organization was founded in 2003, he served as the EFCC’s first Director of Operations. From then until Waziri was nominated and confirmed by the Senate in June 2008, he served as acting chairman.
In December 2010, Lamorde rejoined the EFCC as Director of Operations, taking over from Stephen Otitoju, who was Acting Director of Operations at the time.
