A multitude of Nigerian politicians representing various political parties graced the wedding ceremony of Lloyd, the son of Ike Ekweremadu, the former Deputy Senate President. The wedding took place as Lloyd exchanged vows with his beloved Tiffany at the Basilica of Grace Anglican Church in the Gudu district of Abuja on a Saturday.
The event saw the presence of prominent political figures, including Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate; Benjamin Kalu, deputy speaker; Dino Melaye, former senator; David Umahi, ex-governor of Ebonyi; and others.
Of special note, three former senate presidents – Anyim Pius Anyim, David Mark, and Bukola Saraki – also marked their attendance at the occasion.
Lloyd’s recent appointment as a commissioner in the state of Enugu by Governor Peter Mbah further adds to the significance of the occasion.
The wedding ceremony comes three months after Ekweremadu and his wife, Beatrice, faced convictions in the UK for organ trafficking. Ekweremadu was sentenced to nine years and eight months in prison, while his wife received a four-year and six-month sentence.
UK police disclosed that the Ekweremadus allegedly brought a kidney donor to the country to procure an organ for their ailing daughter, an incident that has raised significant attention and discussions.
