Four Narrowly Escape Death in Lekki-Ajah Expressway Crash

On Thursday, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) operatives came to the aid of four yet-to-be-identified victims involved in a car accident that occurred in the Salau junction area of the Lekki-Ajah expressway. The incident, as reported by LASTMA spokesperson Adebayo Taofeek and made available to Findwhosabi Metro, resulted from overspeeding on the expressway.

Thanks to the timely intervention of LASTMA personnel and the assistance of one of the victims’ husbands, the injured parties were successfully rescued and promptly transported to a nearby hospital in Lekki-Ajah, according to Taofeek.

The statement further revealed that the two vehicles involved in the accident were handed over to the police at Ilasan Police Station on the Lekki-Ajah Expressway. Among the identified registration numbers of the vehicles involved were SMK297GD and LSR105HW.

The General Manager of LASTMA urged both private and commercial drivers to exercise caution and avoid overspeeding while driving on the expressway.

The statement included the following details: “Operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) today rescued a woman with her 2 children going to school, including the driver of a Sienna bus involved in a serious accident around Ajah area of Lagos. Preliminary investigation revealed that the serious accident was a result of overspeeding which resulted in loss of control that caused the accident. LASTMA’s Ekundayo confirmed further that all rescued four accident victims were rushed to a nearby hospital by the husband of the rescued woman after he was contacted with the help of LASTMA officials at the accident scene. He disclosed that the two vehicles involved in the accident were handed over to policemen from Ilasan Police Station by Jakande along Lekki-Ajah Expressway who were equally at the accident scene. The General Manager of LASTMA Mr. Bolaji Oreagba, however, called on drivers (private and commercial) to always minimize their speed whenever they are driving on the expressway.”
