In the late hours of Sunday, an unspecified number of suspected cultists stormed the Ijagba Sagamu neighborhood in Ogun State, murdering no less than four individuals in a clash that was thought to be cult-related.
According to many eyewitness accounts, the group attacked Ijagba Street next to a mosque in the neighborhood on Sunday and shot two persons there.
The two victims, who were both reportedly shot in the head, were eventually identified by the state police as Olasunkanmi Ajayi and an unnamed woman.
Under the condition of anonymity, an eyewitness told reporters that the son of the woman who was shot in the head had stopped the police from taking her body to the hospital.
Our correspondent was informed by a source in the state police command that empty cartridges had been found at the crime scene.
Another altercation broke out when two purported members of the Aiye confraternity shot and killed two people as the police squad led by the Area Commander of Sagamu, Shehu Alao, was attempting to restore order in the neighborhood.
