In the Bankole Estate, Magboro, in the Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State, a block factory owned by a guy only known as Hamzat is said to have been invaded by suspected troops who also took his Toyota RAV 4 car.
The five troops in a pick-up vehicle, according to Hamzat, were searching for his younger brother Sulaimon, an Islamic preacher.
He added that the incident started after he invited a suspected Yahoo boy—yet-to-be-named—who is the brother of his girlfriend to Sulaimon for special prayers.
He claimed that following the success of the prayer, his girlfriend’s brother requested additional special prayers, and Sulaimon connected him with another unnamed Islamic preacher in Lagos’ Agege neighborhood.
“After my brother introduced him to another Alfa for a special prayer, maybe he was duped (or he didn’t receive the expected returns after payment), I don’t know,” Hamzat stated. As for what happened between the boy and the other Alfa, my brother added that he was unaware of it.
“Someone called me on Tuesday and said that there were some people at my block factory looking to buy blocks. I immediately descended. The cost of my blocks was disclosed to the individual. I happened to see some soldiers enter the estate as that was happening. They approached me and requested my presence. They began seizing me as I inquired as to what had occurred.
“When I looked into their car, I recognized the man I had previously introduced to my brother and his girlfriend. After that, the soldiers instructed me to accompany them. They offered to drive my car with them, but I declined and claimed I couldn’t give them the key because I hadn’t stolen anything or done anything wrong. Nevertheless, I would drive with them.
The military brought him to their base in Ebute, he said, where they allegedly demanded N10,000 from him and impounded his car until he could show them his brother.
