FRSC Urges Road Users to Prioritize Safety Ahead of Yuletide Season

Asaba, Nigeria – The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has issued a stern call to road users, emphasizing the critical need to prioritize safety throughout the upcoming yuletide season. Mr. Bassey Eshiet, the Delta State FRSC Sector Commander, delivered this imperative advice during a visit to road crash victims at the Federal Medical Centre Asaba on Saturday.

Highlighting road traffic crashes and fatalities as a pressing public health crisis demanding urgent attention, Eshiet stressed the importance of swift and focused actions to address the issue.

“Road traffic crashes and fatalities are a public health crisis that requires urgent, concise and dedicated actions. The burden of these injuries and fatalities is disastrous to families, the nation’s economy, and humanity in general,” he remarked.

Eshiet called upon governments, stakeholders, and the public to adopt proven strategies, including the redesign of dangerous roads, strict enforcement of speed limits, and enhancements in vehicle designs and components to ensure road safety.

Advocating for the safe system approach, which aims for zero deaths even when human error leads to a crash, Eshiet urged collective efforts to make roads safer for all users.

He expressed the FRSC’s commitment to promoting a safer motoring environment through collaborative efforts with stakeholders and partners. Eshiet called on citizens to play their part by obeying traffic rules and regulations, appreciating the corps’ endeavors for the collective benefit of all road users.
