Fubara Vows Sack School Principals Cultism

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has issued a stern warning to school principals in the state, emphasizing that anyone found involved in cult activities will face immediate dismissal. He stressed that schools in the state should be dedicated to providing quality education and should not serve as breeding grounds for cultism.

Governor Fubara made these declarations during the commissioning of the remodeled Government Comprehensive Secondary School, Borikiri, located in the old Port Harcourt township. He affirmed his commitment to creating world-class educational facilities that would motivate teachers to excel in their mission of nurturing students, recognizing education as the cornerstone of development and progress.

While acknowledging that the project was initiated by his predecessor, he noted that his administration had diligently completed it using taxpayers’ money for the benefit of the people of Rivers State. Governor Fubara urged the school authorities to take all necessary measures to safeguard the newly remodeled facility and called upon the students to dedicate more time to their studies in order to excel in their chosen fields.

The Governor stated, “Today, we have a world-class edifice. We have an environment that makes you feel and appreciate learning, even our students will be happy to be in school. It will also encourage our teachers and spur them to put in their best. That was why the government at that time started it. When we came on board, we saw every reason to see that it was concluded and commissioned for the good of our people. Let me say it here, it should be a policy. Any principal found to be associated with cultism will be dismissed from service.”

During the commissioning ceremony, former President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Chief Onueze Okocha, SAN, praised Governor Fubara’s administration for its transformation of the school with high-quality infrastructure and learning facilities. He lauded the efforts of the government in creating an educational environment that is now the envy of many.

The Rivers State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Chinedum Mmom, provided details of the project, which included administrative offices for staff, science and agriculture laboratories, Information Communication Technology facilities, a library, a 24-classroom block, a 500-capacity multipurpose hall, and a sports complex.

The president of the Old Boys Association of the school, Dr. Nobel Abe, expressed gratitude to the state government for heeding their requests and renovating the school’s structures, transforming it into a dignified learning institution.
