Popular Nigerian comedian and actor, Ijoba Lande, has opened up about how he was paid only ₦90,000 after working for a full month on a movie project by Nollywood star, Funke Akindele. In an emotional video trending online, Lande shared how he had high hopes when she contacted him through Instagram, but ended up disappointed by the pay and treatment he received.
He explained that he was excited to work with her and didn’t even charge a fee upfront because he saw it as a big opportunity. But after spending one month on set, traveling daily from Ayobo to Amen Estate, he was shocked to receive just ₦90,000. He said Funke was not friendly during the entire shoot, and he couldn’t even get a single photo with her.

Speaking from experience, Lande advised young entertainers not to work for free, no matter how famous the person is. He said, “Even if Michael Jackson comes back, I will tell him my price,” stressing that every creative should know their worth and never be afraid to charge for their talent.
