Students of the Federal University Oye Ekiti (FUOYE) have called for justice in the killing of one of their colleagues, Modupe Atanda, a student in the Nursing Department. The Students’ Union Government (SUG) at FUOYE has urged the security agencies to thoroughly investigate the matter and bring the perpetrators to justice.

The police in Ekiti State had earlier revealed that Modupe Atanda, who had been declared missing, was found dead and buried in a shallow grave near the university’s Nursing Lecture Theatre.
The President of FUOYE’s SUG, Emmanuel Ajayi, and the Public Relations Officer, Elizabeth Akuraku, expressed their condolences and described the cause and manner of Modupe’s death as deeply painful to the entire student body. They emphasized their demand for justice and called on the security agencies to investigate and prosecute those responsible for this heinous crime.
In a statement on their social media handle, the student leaders clarified that no part of Modupe’s body was mutilated, contrary to rumors, and confirmed that the police had made some arrests. They pledged not to rest until justice was served.
The Police Commissioner in Ekiti State, Dare Ogundare, assured the public that the command would do everything possible to identify and bring the perpetrator(s) to justice. He encouraged anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
The statement also mentioned that ten suspects were in custody and undergoing investigation. The university management confirmed the death of the student and stated that investigations were ongoing in collaboration with national security agencies to uncover the truth and hold the culprits accountable.
