GAC Leader: Attributes Family Issue Behind Disqualification of 17 Lagos Commissioner Nominees

The leader of the Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC)-Governance Advisory Council (GAC), Prince Tajudeen Olusi, has characterized the rejection of 17 out of 39 commissioner nominees put forth by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to the State House of Assembly as an internal matter.

Olusi assured that the situation is manageable and attributed the current events to the natural workings of democracy.

The recent decision of the Lagos State House of Assembly to disqualify 17 commissioner nominees, while granting clearance to 22 others, evoked diverse reactions.

Addressing the matter, Prince Olusi emphasized that there’s no need for undue concern, as the APC leadership is already engaging to prevent the crisis from escalating. He emphasized that such occurrences are not unusual in a presidential system of governance where the roles of the Executive and Legislature are distinctly outlined by the constitution.

He underlined, “We have been contacting and consulting with the leaders of the party. It is part of the side effects of the operation of democracy.”

Olusi assured that a resolution is imminent, stating, “The House of Assembly has its responsibilities. The Executive also has its responsibilities assigned to it by the constitution. The party is the father of the two”

He concluded, “So, the matter is under control. It is a family issue. Very soon, we shall lay everything to rest”.
