Commuters and drivers in the bustling Ojuelegba area of Lagos State found themselves in a precarious situation on a Saturday morning when a gas leak from a truck brought the neighborhood to a standstill.
Around 9 a.m., between the Stadium and Barracks bus stops, chaos ensued as the noxious fumes prompted authorities to divert traffic, fearing a potential explosion. Our correspondent, an eyewitness to the unfolding drama, noted that the Lagos State Fire Service promptly arrived at the scene, cordoning off the area for the safety of all road users.
The source of the commotion was a truck emitting a disconcerting, high-pitched hissing sound as gas hissed ominously from the top of the vehicle. Security personnel and safety experts were on the scene, working diligently to prevent any untoward incidents. Commuters, meanwhile, shared advice, urging one another to switch off their mobile phones while navigating this perilous stretch of road.
Olamide, an eyewitness, recounted the harrowing experience, stating, “This truck began leaking gas at around 9 a.m. Thankfully, the Lagos Fire Service responded swiftly to the crisis.”
