The Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, has reiterated the Nigerian Federal Government’s dedication to economic diversification by harnessing the potential of the mineral sector to boost revenue.
In a statement released on Monday by the Ministry’s Head of Press and Public Relations, Alaba Balogun, Minister Alake expressed this commitment during a meeting with a delegation from the Miners Association of Nigeria in preparation for the Nigeria Mining Week.
Minister Alake stated, “Our vision is to make solid minerals a source of national pride and a significant contributor to Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product. We are determined to diversify from oil and exploit our mineral resources for the benefit of Nigeria. This represents our contribution to addressing climate change.”
He went on to emphasize that the Federal Government is actively implementing policies aimed at revamping the mining sector. These policies are designed to streamline the industry, enhance the regulatory framework, and create a more favorable environment for both local and foreign investors.
The delegation from the Miners Association of Nigeria was led by their National President, Dele Ayanleke. The meeting underlines the government’s ongoing efforts to tap into the immense potential of the country’s mineral resources as part of a broader strategy to reduce reliance on oil and drive economic diversification.
