The Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Esther Walson-Jack, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to addressing the issue of civil servants who relocated abroad while still drawing salaries from Nigeria. During her press briefing marking her first 100 days in office, Walson-Jack confirmed that some affected civil servants have returned to Nigeria, while others have resigned. She emphasized that those who had received salaries while abroad must refund the money, with the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPIS) playing a key role in verifying the identities of these workers.
Walson-Jack also provided updates on the long-pending salary harmonization process, stating that the National Wages, Income, and Salary Commission is actively working on the matter. She reassured the public that efforts to resolve salary issues and ensure accountability for civil servants will continue. The government remains dedicated to maintaining the integrity of the public service.
