The Federal Government has tracked at least ₦83 billion, including $50 million in cryptocurrency and fiat money, believed to have been channeled into the recent nationwide protests. National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu presented these findings during the inaugural Council of State meeting, convened by President Bola Tinubu at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja.
Ribadu’s report highlighted that $38 million of the cryptocurrency was blocked across four wallets, while ₦4 billion was traced to contributions from political actors in Abuja, Kano, Kaduna, and Katsina. Additionally, the government identified a European individual as the mastermind behind the foreign flags seen during the protests and plans to declare him wanted soon.

Local collaborators in Abuja, Kaduna, and Kano have already been arrested, while security agencies continue investigating the situation. The protests, which led to loss of lives and property, were seen as an attempt at unconstitutional regime change, prompting strong warnings from the government against any such actions.
