Sokoto State’s Governor, Dr Ahmed Aliyu, highlighted his commitment to security during a reception for retired Lt. Gen. Farouk Yahaya, former Chief of Army Staff. He praised Yahaya’s brilliant military career and emphasized his government’s support for security agencies to protect the state.
During the event, Governor Aliyu expressed pride in Yahaya’s accomplishments and attributed his rise in the military to divine favor. He noted Yahaya’s dedication and focus, and celebrated the warm welcome extended to him by the state.
Senator Aliyu Wamakko, former governor and event chairman, thanked Yahaya for his contributions to peace and security. Wamakko highlighted Yahaya’s service to Nigeria and commended the befitting reception in his honor.
Other speakers, including Gen. Christopher G Musa, Lt Gen. Tukur Buratai, Lt Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, and Major General Victor Ezeogu, as well as Sultan of Sokoto Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, lauded Yahaya’s exceptional role in managing terrorism and insurgency.
Yahaya expressed gratitude for the honor and acknowledged the Nigerian military’s support. He thanked the Sokoto State government and affirmed his dedication to serving the nation.
