Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has expressed his unwavering confidence in the fairness of the Ogun State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal’s judgment. He stated that he had never entertained any fear that the tribunal’s decision would go against him and had always believed that his victory in the March 18 governorship election would be upheld.
The tribunal’s judgment, delivered on Saturday, affirmed Abiodun’s victory and dismissed the petition filed by the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ladi Adebutu, challenging the election’s outcome.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Lekan Adeniran, Governor Abiodun said, “We were never in doubt that our hard-earned victory would be affirmed as we placed our trust in God, having worked the hardest campaigning in every nook and cranny of Ogun State. We won fair and square, we earned it and deserved it.”
Governor Abiodun also extended an olive branch to the opposition, calling on them to put aside their animosity and join him in the important task of developing Ogun State.
The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State, Chief Yemi Sanusi, hailed the tribunal’s decision and believed that the victory would inspire Governor Abiodun to work diligently in delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of the state.
