Gunmen attack motorcyclists in Osun, one killed

According to reports, Taye, a single victim of a gunshot wound sustained in a Wednesday attack by unidentified gunmen on the Gbere Odofin/Oba Road in Osun State, has died.

The deceased, a commercial biker, was reportedly driving a passenger to Oba to buy fish when he was shot in the leg by assailants who were allegedly setting up an ambush near Gbere Odofin Junction.

Taye, an Erin-Osun native, allegedly received emergency treatment at two private hospitals in Ifon and Erin-Osun but was turned away.

He allegedly passed away while traveling to Osogbo’s third hospital.

“He passed away, most likely from blood loss, when they were traveling to Osogbo. The victim’s name is Taye from the Amoloju compound in Erin-Osun, but we do not yet know who committed the crime, according to Agboola.

In a video clip obtained on Wednesday, a second biker who was allegedly beaten and who is from the Alaasan compound in Ifon-Osun claimed he was traveling to Oba when some men with masks stopped him at the Gbere Odofin Junction.

At the Gbere Odofin Junction, I was stopped and questioned about my hometown. I informed them that I am from Ifon. Others who were already in the bush were summoned to emerge. One of them fired at me from behind a bush. They numbered somewhere between six and seven. They covered their faces with a black mask. With gunshot wounds, I abandoned my motorcycle and fled,” he claimed.

We were informed there had been gunfire near the settlements of Ifon and Ilobu, but the state Police Public Relations Officer, Yemisi Opalola, stated she had not received a briefing on the matter. I wasn’t well informed on the matter you brought up.
