Hanks Anuku Protests Hunger in Nigeria

Renowned actor Hanks Anuku has taken to the streets in a solo protest to highlight the severe hunger crisis in Nigeria. A viral video shows Anuku waving the Nigerian flag and chanting “hunger dey oo,” capturing the attention of onlookers and online viewers who sympathize with his cause.

The protest follows warnings from Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Olisa Agbakoba, who cautioned the Federal Government about a potential “hunger riot” due to escalating food insecurity. Agbakoba stressed the urgency of addressing the widespread inability of many Nigerians to afford basic necessities, warning of possible mass protests and looting.

The United Nations has also sounded the alarm, predicting that 82 million Nigerians, or 64% of the population, could face hunger by 2030. The UN urges the Nigerian government to tackle climate change, pest infestations, and other agricultural threats to avert this looming crisis.
