Ayo Animashaun, the CEO of Smooth Promotions, the organizing body behind the Headies Awards, has dismissed rumors suggesting that Wizkid’s album ‘More Love, Less Ego’ was submitted for nomination at the 16th edition of the Headies but was declined.
Following the announcement of the nominees for the 16th Headies Awards, Wizkid’s absence from the list raised eyebrows, especially considering his recent album release.
A Twitter user (@DerrickBugatti) shared a screenshot of an alleged Instagram story post by Ayo Animashaun, where he claimed that Wizkid’s album was submitted but rejected. The supposed post read, “To everyone complaining, Wizkid’s MLLE album was actually submitted to Headies but got declined because we are not accepting just anything, maybe he should work hard for next year!”
In response, Ayo Animashaun took to his verified Instagram page to address the viral post, stating that it was a manipulated image and categorizing it as “malicious” and “fake.” He shared a screenshot of the post on his Instagram story and emphasized, “This is malicious! It’s photoshop. Fake! Not me.”
The denial from the Headies Awards organizer clears the air regarding Wizkid’s alleged rejection and highlights the circulating post as a false representation of the situation.
