The Minister of Health in Nigeria, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, has commended the resilience of healthcare workers in the country who continue to serve under challenging conditions, including security threats and kidnappings. During an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, the minister acknowledged the dedication of healthcare professionals who persevere despite facing multiple obstacles and operating with limited resources.
Prof. Pate highlighted the need to recognize the efforts of healthcare workers and the importance of improving the health sector in Nigeria. He mentioned that while healthcare workers are not perfect, there is significant room for improvement. He also discussed a four-point agenda aimed at enhancing the overall state of health in Nigeria, with a focus on improving governance in the healthcare sector.
The minister emphasized that the responsibility for healthcare extends to all levels of government, including state and local authorities, and that both the public and private sectors should be involved in the conversation to improve healthcare services and quality in Nigeria.
