House Of Rep Rejects Bill for Six-Year Single Term for President

The House of Representatives has rejected a bill proposing a single six-year term for the President, State Governors, and Local Government Chairmen. The bill, intended to reduce election costs, was dismissed at its second reading on Thursday.

Initially passing its first reading months ago, the bill sought to amend the 1999 constitution to limit re-election cycles, but failed to gain enough support.
