Detectives in Ondo State have apprehended Mrs. Esther Godwin, a food seller and housewife, on suspicion of pouring hot water on Samuel Endurance, a nursing mother. The incident reportedly occurred due to an allegation that Samuel was involved in an illicit affair with Mrs. Godwin’s husband. Mrs. Godwin was taken into custody over the weekend after she enticed Samuel to her residence in the Olofin community of Idanre, located in the Idanre Local Council Area of the state.
Based on the information obtained, it appears that the suspect lured the victim, Endurance, by calling her on the phone and deceiving her into thinking that she needed to come over to collect palm oil for her husband. Endurance, along with her baby, hurriedly went to the suspect’s house with the expectation that the suspect would give her the palm oil as promised.
To her astonishment, the suspect, upon seizing the baby from her victim, questioned her about her connection with her husband. However, she adamantly denied any relationship beyond working for her husband. Allegedly, the suspect swiftly retreated to her room, only to emerge with a scalding kettle of water, which she recklessly poured onto Endurance’s body. Promptly, the victim was rushed to the town’s health center and subsequently transferred to General Hospital, Alade Idanre, where she is currently undergoing treatment.
Endurance shared her experience while being sick, expressing that despite working on the suspect husband’s farm, their relationship was strictly professional as employer and employee. Funmilayo Odunlami, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Ondo State, affirmed the suspect’s arrest and mentioned that charges would be filed against her.
