I Was Advised to Partake in Cultism and Rituals to Succeed in Music – Reveals Phyno

Nigerian rapper Chibuzor Nelson Azubuike, widely known as Phyno, has revealed that he received advice to join a cult group or engage in rituals if he wanted to achieve success in his music career.

In a comprehensive post shared on his verified Instagram account, Phyno discussed the challenges he faced during his early days as a struggling artist in the music industry.

Known as “Ezege” by his colleagues, Phyno explained that he has always been a proponent of hard work and has never believed in shortcuts to success. He encouraged aspiring artists to resist the temptation of seeking quick success and cautioned against hastily signing record deals with unfavorable terms and conditions out of desperation.

Phyno elaborated on how some record label executives exploit the desperation of young talents, taking advantage of their eagerness and making them sign contracts that ultimately prove detrimental.

He shared, “Some people look at us today and think we got it easy, Not at all. In fact, I’ve never loved easy things. Before many people heard of Phyno, I’d had songs that no one knew existed. A couple of friends told me to blow, I must join a cult or sacrifice something or someone, I told him the price is too much. I’ll never do such. I believed in myself and the power of hard work, I started little, and today I thank God.”

Phyno urged young talents to remain patient and avoid the desperation to secure record deals or immediate fame. He emphasized the importance of hard work and consistency in achieving lasting success.

He said, “Young talents need to relax, do not be desperate about record deals or being in the spotlight. Keep working, when it’s time you’ll shine. Imagine begging a label to sign you, what kind of terms will they give you? They already know you are desperate, and they will use you. At the beginning, you might not see it but give it time, and you’ll regret it. Nothing pays more than hard work and consistency.”

His statements came in the wake of the passing of Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, and the controversies surrounding the tragic event.
