The Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, has directed the posting and redeployment of 40 senior police officers, including 14 Assistant Inspectors General of Police and 26 Commissioners of Police, to various commands and formations across the country. This move is part of the Police Service Commission’s approval and aims to align with the new ranks of recently elevated senior officers.
The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, emphasized that the postings are effective immediately. The IG urged the newly posted and redeployed officers to align with the Force’s policies and support the government’s agenda for economic recovery, growth, and sociopolitical development. Egbetokun emphasized the importance of professionalism and diligent policing, encouraging officers to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to bring policing closer to the people.
Some of the Assistant Inspectors General of Police deployed include Ogundele Ayodeji (Zone 7, Abuja), Patrick Edung (Zone 11 Osogbo), and Badru Lawal (Border Patrol FHQ). Among the redeployed Commissioners of Police are George Chuku (Benue State), Ahmed Tijani (Jigawa State), and Disu Rilwan (Rivers State).
