In a recent development, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has decided to postpone the collation of governorship election results from the local government areas in Bayelsa State. The Head of Department, Voter Education and Publicity at the INEC office in Yenagoa, Mr. Wilfred Ifogah, conveyed this decision to party agents, election observers, and journalists at the state’s collation centre on Sunday.
The state Returning Officer, Prof. Kuta Farouq, had initially adjourned the exercise until 6 p.m. following the collation of results from the Sagbama, Nembe, and Ekeremor local government areas. However, as the anticipation for the results from the remaining two local government areas, Brass and Southern Ijaw, continued, the adjournment was extended till 12 noon on Monday.
This delay has heightened the suspense surrounding the outcome of the governorship election in Bayelsa State, keeping both political stakeholders and the public on edge until the resumption of the collation process tomorrow at noon.
