In response to a report from the civil society organization Yiaga Africa, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has taken swift action to investigate alleged incidents of pre-filled result sheets in the Kogi State governorship election. The CSO had earlier shared a post on social media, raising concerns about the discovery of pre-filled result sheets at Polling Unit 004 in Eni Ward, Ogori/Magongo.
In a statement posted on its official handle, INEC acknowledged the seriousness of the situation and assured the public that its senior officials deployed to the state are actively investigating the reported incidents.
The electoral body stated, “Our attention has been drawn to a report that filled result sheets were discovered in some polling units in Kogi State. The Commission views this situation seriously. Our senior officials deployed to the State are currently investigating the incident(s). The Commission will communicate its decision earnestly.”
As the electoral process unfolds in Kogi State, citizens and stakeholders are eagerly awaiting the outcome of INEC’s investigation and the subsequent actions the Commission may take to address any irregularities and uphold the integrity of the electoral process. Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
