INEC has said there’s no limit to how many times a senator or lawmaker can be recalled. This was made clear by Rotimi Oyekanmi, Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, during an interview on Channels TV. He explained that Nigeria’s constitution allows repeated recall attempts, as long as they follow the rules stated in Section 69.
This statement comes after the failed move to recall Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan from Kogi Central. The Independent National Electoral Commission said the petition didn’t meet the required number of valid signatures—over 50% of registered voters. They also said the petition was incomplete and lacked some key information like contact details.

Oyekanmi denied that INEC was biased or helped the petitioners. He said the commission only asked them to correct the missing details, which is part of due process. Senator Natasha, however, accused The Independent National Electoral Commission of working with her political opponents and helping them perfect the petition.
