The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Kano has declared its preparedness for the upcoming by-elections in Kunchi/Tsanyawa, Kura/Garin Malam, and Rimin Gado/Tofa State Assembly constituencies scheduled for February 3. Abdu Zango, the Resident INEC in Kano, made this announcement during an address to stakeholders at the commission’s headquarters on Tuesday.

He emphasized the importance of possessing a permanent voter card (PVC) for participation in the elections, INEC stating that individuals without a valid PVC would not be allowed to take part.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner confirmed the deployment of both sensitive and non-sensitive materials to the affected local government areas. He highlighted the use of the Biometric Voter Accreditation System (BIVAS) machine during the re-run elections, emphasizing its role in guaranteeing a free, fair, and credible electoral process.

Expressing confidence in the smooth conduct of the by-elections, Zango commended the police for providing necessary security personnel. The State Police Commissioner, Usaini Gumel, assured the public of the police’s commitment to ensuring a secure electoral environment. He warned against political violence, ballot snatching, and thuggery, stating that law enforcement would take strict actions against those found disrupting the peaceful political atmosphere in the state.
