Minister for Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, has sparked conversations by asserting that Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, is qualified to contest for the Lagos State governorship in 2027. Speaking on the Mic On podcast, Olawande addressed growing speculations surrounding Tinubu’s political ambitions, describing him as a capable and well-prepared leader.
Olawande emphasized Seyi’s leadership potential, noting his significant contributions to youth development and his readiness for public office. “He’s a well-trained young man who has empowered many even before his father became President,” the minister stated. Despite this, he clarified that Seyi is not behind the campaigns advocating for his gubernatorial candidacy.
The speculation began in 2024, fueled by endorsements from groups like the Coalition of Nigerian Youth Leaders (CONYL). However, Seyi Tinubu has neither confirmed nor denied any political plans, choosing to remain silent on the matter while supporters continue to rally around the idea of his candidacy.
