Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, on Wednesday, made a resolute pledge to persist in the battle against Hamas, declaring that every member of the Palestinian militant group would face dire consequences.
In a statement, Netanyahu underscored Israel’s determination to “eliminate” Hamas, following the surprise attack by the group on Saturday.
“Hamas is the Daesh (Islamic State group), and we will crush them and obliterate them, just as the world has dismantled Daesh. We will erase Hamas from the face of the earth,” he stated during a brief televised address, marking the first joint statement issued in conjunction with his war cabinet.
In an earlier development, Netanyahu temporarily put aside political differences and established an emergency government, which includes former Defense Minister Benny Gantz, a centrist, for the duration of the crisis.
This announcement by Prime Minister Netanyahu demonstrates a resolute commitment to addressing the recent escalation of tensions between Israel and Hamas. The situation continues to be closely monitored by international observers as it unfolds.
