JAMB Issues Final Verdict on Mmesoma Ejikeme’s Result

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has concluded its investigation into the alleged result falsification by 19-year-old Anambra student, Mmesoma Ejikeme, and has issued its final verdict.

Mmesoma had been in the headlines following accusations of forging her UTME score. However, JAMB released an authentic result slip on Tuesday, revealing that her actual score in the 2023 UTME was 249, contrary to the 362 she had been claiming.

In a statement by JAMB’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, it was clarified that the result Mmesoma had been flaunting was outdated and belonged to another candidate named ‘Asimiyu Mariam Omobolanle,’ who had sat the UTME in 2021 and scored 138.

JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, affirmed that the board had completed its investigation and found Mmesoma guilty of score falsification. He further highlighted the existence of a larger issue within the industry involving result forgery.

Oloyede emphasized that JAMB’s system is highly secure and tamper-proof, and it was evident that Mmesoma’s scores had been manipulated in collaboration with her. He shared that he had discussed the matter with former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, and informed her about the intricate scam.

The JAMB Registrar reassured the public that the board had upgraded its facilities, rendering obsolete the methods used by those attempting to alter results. He referenced previous incidents in 2021 where similar individuals were caught and appropriately dealt with.
