January Buzz: Key Transfer Dates for 2024

The upcoming January transfer window in 2024 is poised to witness significant activity as clubs seek reinforcements in their pursuit of silverware.

Across various leagues, clubs retain the option to sign players as free agents beyond the deadline, provided these players are not officially affiliated with any club by Friday, February 2.

Interleague deals are feasible, permitting agreements between leagues with disparate transfer window schedules. The finalization of these deals is contingent on the opening of the signing club’s transfer window.

Below are the opening and closing dates for key leagues as per FIFA’s Transfer Window Calendar:

Premier League Transfer Window:

  • Opens: Monday, January 1
  • Closes: Thursday, February 1, at 11 p.m. GMT / 6 p.m. ET

LaLiga Transfer Window:

  • Opens: Tuesday, January 2
  • Closes: Thursday, February 1, at 11 p.m. GMT / 6 p.m. ET

Serie A Transfer Window:

  • Opens: Tuesday, January 2
  • Closes: Thursday, February 1, at 7 p.m. GMT / 2 p.m. ET

Bundesliga Transfer Window:

  • Opens: Monday, January 1
  • Closes: Thursday, February 1, at 5 p.m. GMT / midday ET

Ligue 1 Transfer Window:

  • Opens: Monday, January 1
  • Closes: Thursday, February 1, at 10 p.m. GMT / 5 p.m. ET

Women’s Super League (WSL) Transfer Window:

  • Opens: Monday, January 1
  • Closes: Wednesday, January 31

MLS Transfer Window:

  • Remains open until April, with the 2024 season commencing on February 22.

Other Transfer Deadlines:

  • Australia: February 6
  • Mexico: February 1
  • Portugal: February 2
  • Saudi Arabia: January 30
  • Turkey: February 9
