Veteran Nollywood actor Jide Kosoko has revealed that despite spending over 60 years in the movie industry, he cannot be considered rich by Nigerian standards. Speaking on The Honest Bunch podcast, the 71-year-old actor said he is comfortable but has not “struck gold.”
Kosoko blamed piracy for the struggles of Nigerian filmmakers, stating that current copyright laws are too weak. He called for stricter penalties, suggesting a 20-year jail term with no option of a fine to deter movie pirates.

Having started his career as a child actor in 1964, Kosoko has featured in hundreds of Nollywood films. However, he insists that without stronger laws against piracy, many actors will continue to struggle financially.
