Jigawa State has introduced a new digital tax payment system, aiming to simplify revenue collection and eliminate multiple taxation issues. Dr. Nasiru Sabo Idris, Chairman of the Jigawa State Internal Revenue Service, announced the launch of the Jigawa Integrated Tax Administration System (JIGTAS), which will modernize and streamline the state’s revenue mobilization. A recent workshop in Dutse trained accountants and revenue collectors from various state agencies on using the new platform.
In Akwa Ibom, the government plans to fully digitize tax processes by 2025. Okon Okon, the Executive Chairman of the Akwa Ibom State Revenue Board, revealed that new electronic tools—like e-filing, digital tax clearance, and automated registration—will transform tax assessment and improve revenue collection across the state. Both states see digitalization as a path to stronger financial management and growth.
