Joe Igbokwe Criticizes Youth Push for Seyi Tinubu as Lagos Governor

Joe Igbokwe, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has strongly criticized youth groups advocating for Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Tinubu, to run for governor of Lagos State in 2027. In a Facebook post, Igbokwe dismissed the call as a distraction, arguing that the push was an attempt to undermine the President. He added that governing a state like Lagos was not a task suited for “boys,” emphasizing the complexity and responsibility of the position.

Igbokwe’s comments come as the 2027 Lagos governorship race begins to take shape, with key figures such as Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat and House Speaker Mudashiru Obasa emerging as potential candidates. Both are seasoned politicians with deep ties to the state’s power structures, making them formidable contenders for the top seat.

As the political landscape of Lagos heats up, Igbokwe’s remarks reflect the internal dynamics within the APC, where discussions around the state’s future leadership are gaining momentum.
