Justice for Ibadan Blast: Adams Urges Makinde

The Aare Onakakanfo of Yoruba land, Chief Gani Adams, has strongly condemned the recent explosion in Ibadan and has called on Governor Seyi Makinde to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.

In a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Aderemi, Adams described the incident as unfortunate and emphasized the need for the government to investigate and identify those responsible for the explosion.

Attributing the incident to the carelessness of miners, Adams emphasized that such actions were illegal and posed a threat to the lives and property of the people of Oyo State.

“As far as I am concerned, the story of the Ibadan explosion had left many questions hanging in the balance. It was a security threat to the state, that is why it is important for Governor Makinde to fish out those behind the incident and bring them to book,” Adams stated.

Expressing concern over the rising death toll and the number of victims in hospitals, Adams urged the state government to take swift and decisive action. He emphasized that Ibadan, as the political headquarters of the South-West region, plays a crucial role, and any incident affecting the city has a potential ripple effect on other states in the region.

“The state government should leave no stone unturned by making sure that perpetrators of the dastardly act didn’t go scot-free,” Adams urged.

While extending condolences to Governor Makinde, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, the people of Ibadan, and the entire state, Adams emphasized the gravity of the damage caused by the explosion, urging the government to treat the matter with the seriousness it deserves.

The explosion, which occurred on Tuesday, January 16, in Ibadan, Oyo State, around 8 p.m., has sparked concerns and calls for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
