Bandits launched an attack on the Unguwan Dankali area in Zaria Local Government Area of Kaduna State, resulting in the death of four residents and injuries to four others. During the attack, police operatives rescued five kidnapped victims and arrested one suspected kidnapper.
The Kaduna State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Mansur Hassan, confirmed the incident and provided details. He identified the rescued kidnapped victims as four females and an eight-month-old boy. The injured individuals were immediately evacuated to the Muslim Clinic Hospital in Zaria for treatment, where four of them were tragically pronounced dead by the doctors.
The attack occurred on Friday night, and it was in response to a distress call that the Zaria Area Command swiftly mobilized its operatives to the location. The joint response teams, consisting of the police, military, and Civilian Joint Task Force, pursued the bandits and forced them to abandon five kidnapped victims. The rescued victims were also taken to the hospital.
One suspect, identified as Mansir Umar, was arrested in possession of several military woodland camouflage uniforms and is believed to be one of the gunmen involved in the attack. Preliminary investigations have commenced, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining fleeing bandits.
The Commissioner of Police, Kaduna State Command, CP Musa Yusuf Garba, expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and called on the public to provide relevant information that could assist the police in apprehending the remaining bandits.
