Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has taken decisive action following the tragic attack by bandits on Saya-Saya village in Ikara Local Government Area of the state, resulting in the brutal killing of seven worshippers in a mosque. In a statement released by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mohammed Lawal Shehu, the governor has ordered a thorough police investigation into the incident.
Governor Sani strongly condemned the heinous and barbaric act, asserting that his administration is committed to restoring peace and security across the state. He expressed empathy for the residents of Ikara and the entire Kaduna State, emphasizing that their safety is the government’s utmost concern. He further urged the public to remain vigilant, cooperate with law enforcement agencies, and provide any pertinent information to aid the ongoing investigation.
The attack, which occurred during Friday night prayers in a local mosque, saw bandits target and kill the vigilante leader, the Imam leading the prayer, and three other worshippers. Two more residents were killed in a separate location within the village. The village head, Abdulrahman Yusuf, confirmed the tragic incident, suggesting that the bandits may have specifically targeted the vigilante leader.
The acting Police Public Relations Officer in the Kaduna Police Command, Mansur Alhassan, also confirmed the attack and noted that it could have been prevented if the villagers had alerted security forces promptly.
Governor Sani has not only condemned the attack but has also ordered a manhunt for the culprits, vowing to bring them to justice. He has dispatched a delegation led by Samuel Aruwan, Overseer of the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, to offer condolences to the affected community and assess the security and humanitarian situation in the area.
