In a bid to enhance security and combat crimes such as kidnapping and armed robbery, Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has initiated the training of 7,000 recruits for the Kaduna Vigilance Service (KADVS). These recruits, hailing from all 23 local government areas of the state, will undergo intensive training at the Police College in Kaduna.
Governor Sani emphasized the crucial role these recruits will play in complementing the efforts of existing security agencies. He noted that their local knowledge will be a valuable asset in ridding the state of criminal elements.
The governor acknowledged the need for such recruitment due to the limitations of regular security agencies in addressing the state’s security challenges. He emphasized that the Kaduna Vigilance Service is designed to be a complementary security outfit, providing actionable intelligence to existing security agencies and ensuring that bandits and criminals have no sanctuary in the state.
Governor Sani further highlighted the collaborative nature of the recruitment process, involving local government chairmen, traditional and religious leaders, grassroots stakeholders, and security agencies. This collective effort reflects a commitment to strengthening the state’s security infrastructure.
Additionally, Governor Sani discussed the importance of agricultural technology in addressing food scarcity and insecurity, improving income, and boosting the state’s economy. The initiative aims to utilize technology to enhance agricultural practices and positively impact the lives of the people.
The launch of this training program marks a significant step in fulfilling the state’s promise to its citizens and furthering its efforts to ensure safety and prosperity for all residents of Kaduna State.
