The Kano State Executive Council has given the green light for the allocation of N700 million to cover the tuition fees of 7,000 Kano indigenes who are enrolled at Bayero University Kano. Additionally, N854 million has been designated for the Auren Zaurawa Mass Wedding Initiative.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf shared this announcement on his verified social media page. The decision to allocate N700 million to support Kano students at Bayero University Kano was made during the State Executive Council meeting as a response to the economic challenges being faced in the country.
Governor Yusuf stated, “In light of the prevailing economic challenges, the Kano State Executive Council, under my leadership, has approved the allocation of N700 million to settle the tuition fees for 7,000 students at Bayero University Kano. Further information about this initiative will be provided in due course.”
Furthermore, the governor announced that the Executive Council had approved the disbursement of N854 million for the initial phase of the Auren Zaurawa Mass Wedding Initiative. Other approvals included the establishment of a special committee to address pension arrears for retired individuals from the Kano State Civil Service, as well as the restoration of three pedestrian bridges at Bayero University Kano’s Old Campus, Aminu Kano College of Legal and Islamic Studies, and Sa’adatu Rimi University of Education.
