Kano Police: 222 Surrendered, 98 Arrested For Various Offenses

According to the Kano State Police command, 222 violent criminals who were known for their thuggery activities repented and gave up their guns, and 98 people were detained in September on suspicion of committing serious offenses.

Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the command’s public relations officer, revealed this yesterday and said that the command used both carrot and stick strategies to combat crime in the state.

According to Kiyawa, while some of the unrepentant people were detained for committing various crimes, others were forced to leave the state, while the repentant people collaborated with the police to advance long-term stability, economic growth, and state development.

28 of those detained, according to him, are suspected armed robbers; eight are kidnappers; five are drug traffickers; sixteen are thieves; ten are car thieves; three are tricycle thieves; eight are motorbike thieves; seventeen are bullies; and three are suspected fraudsters.

The commissioner thanked the state’s residents for their ongoing prayers, support, and understanding while praising the work and professionalism of the command’s police officers.
